TPS548B22: Sw and Vin pins when replacing TPS548B22 with TPS548D22

Part Number: TPS548B22
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TPS548D22,

Hi Team,

When replacing TPS548B22RVF on an existing design with TPS548D22, the 40 amps device, 2 sw pins and 2 vin pins are not connected.

Is this a problem when only using it as it is on existing B22 design?

The question above the other way around.

On a 548D22 design the extra sw and vin pins are connected to the net.

When using a 548B22 device these pins are connected to the net but the pins are NC on this device.

Is this an issue?

Thanks, and regards,

Obinna.

  • Hi Obinna,

I would generally recommend that the additional SW and PVIN pins on the TPS548D22 are connected to their respective nets for purposes of reducing noise and series resistance. However, as long as the NC pins on the existing layout are floating, then it is ok to use the TPS548D22 as a drop-in replacement for the TPS548B22. The necessary connections are made internal to the device and there is not a need to connect/route the additional pins of the TPS548D22.

    Regards,
