BQ27520-G4: What to do with TS pin when using internal temperature sensor

Hi,

I'm working with BQ27520 Gas Gauge in my latest design. Battery used does not have an internal thermistor, I'm using external one connected to the charger IC, located very close to the Gas Gauge. To reduce footprint I configured Bq27520 to use internal temperature sensor - this leaves TS pin unused. I couldn't find any information about handling unused pins. Can I leave it floating? What's the recommendation?

Hello Michal,

The TS pin is a sense pin, therefore it should be ok to leave it floating when unused.

After reading through Technical Reference Manual and experimenting with EVM, I can confirm that external temperature sensor circuit can be omitted and TS pin left floating IF BAT_INSERT command is issued by the host. Otherwise gauge fails to reports State Of Charge correctly, as stated in Technical Reference Manual.
