BQ76930: The setup at TS2 Pin

Part Number: BQ76930
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TIDA-01093

Hi Team,

Could you please help me with this case?

I saw there is a 3M resistor, R25, at TS2 pin in the SCH of TIDA-01093. what is the role?

Thanks and best regards.

HL Zhang

  • Hey Hailiang,

The resistor is there in case the user decides not to populate the thermistor header. The TS pins need a pull down resistor to the group reference is there is no thermistor installed.

    Thanks,
    Caleb

  • Hi Caleb,

Thanks for you answer. I guess a 3M resistor affect little when a thermistor is populated. But I notice that a 10k pull down resistor is recommend on the datasheet. What to consider if using 3M resistors? Does the AFE show low temperature when the thermistor is not populated?

    Regards,

    Hailiang

  • Hey Hailiang,

Unfortunately I have not tested that aspect of this design. My assumption is that the designers used a high value resistor so that a wide range of temp coefficients could be used when testing this specific board. 10K is recommended for designs where this is supposed to be no thermistor.

    Thanks,
    Caleb
