LM2735XMFEVAL: voltage drop issues when load change

Part Number: LM2735XMFEVAL
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: LM2735

Hi team,

We use LM2735 for 5V boost to 8V for LED driver, and some abnormal behavior can be found when load change between no-load and heavy condition. Below are the waveform capture and simulation result.

You can find in the capture that when load change form heavy load (5W) to no load, the output voltage is slightly larger than 8V and then IC stop switching. when we change the load form zero to heavy load, the output voltage drop gradually, until about 6V (more than 100us) the IC response to the change and start switching and make output voltage ramp up to 8V.

the other picture is the simulation result, the voltage drop and recover to switching only serval us when change the load form zero to heavy load.

1. when load change form heavy load (5W) to no load, it seems IC enter some operation mode, can you help to check is the reason why stop switch so long until voltage drop to ~6V

2. we also find that when change the load form heavy load to light load, rather than no load, this problem will not occur. Is there any wrong with system design? Please give your comments and more detail explanations is welcome.

Thank you!

BR,

Darren
