BQ34Z110: How to monitor 120V using TI Battery Fuel Gauge, from ten 12V Lead Acid batteries connected in series?

Part Number: BQ34Z110
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: BQ34Z100-G1

Hello TI Experts,

I  need to monitor 120V from ten 12V Lead Acid batteries.

But since the BQ34z110 supports only up to 65V, Is there any way to measure the 120V using only one BQ34z110. Is it possible? IF YES, Please explain how.

Even if I want to use 2 to 3 BQ34z110 chips, I'm ok with it. But how do I need to split and connect the positives and negatives of the 10 batteries which are already connected in series?

Please Help.

Looking forward to hearing from you!

Regards,
Kailash

  • Hello Kailash,

I would recommend using the BQ34Z100-G1 for your application, it supports lead acid as well but has updated firmware with more features.

You can follow the application note for high cell count applications here: https://www.ti.com/lit/pdf/slua760

The gauges are not stackable so it is not possible to configure for multiple gauges.

    Sincerely,

    Wyatt Keller
