TPS6594-Q1: difference between PMIC Immediate shutdown ;Orderly shutdown; MCU power error

Part Number: TPS6594-Q1

Hi Expert,

I see below table and would like to understand the difference between PMIC Immediate shutdown ,Orderly shutdown and MCU power error. Could you please help explain? thanks.

BR,

Elec Cheng

  • Hi Elec,

IMMEDIATE_SHUTDOWN is in response to sever errors such as the device reaching its over voltage protection level or having an error in the PFSM code. This sequence generally pulls all rails low immediately in order to prevent further risk.

MCU_POWER_ERROR is in response to a problem with one of the rails assigned to the MCU rail group. This sequence generally pulls all rails low in a sequence as dictated by the PFSM.

ORDERLY_SHUTDOWN is used for moderate errors. This sequence is dictated by the PFSM.

    Thanks,
