LM5163-Q1: LM5163 current consumption at light load

Dear Team,

We are exploring using LM5163-Q1 device in one of our design.

We are estimating the power consumption in sleep mode.

We would like to know what will be the quiescent current consumption of LM5163-Q1 when load current in low power mode is less than 200uA.

is LM5163-Q1 will be operating in DEM and Pulse skipping mode at 200uA load and quiescent current consumption of LM5163-Q1 will be same as sleep mode current which is 10.5uA to 25 µA mentioned in datasheet?

Kindly confirm asap.

hi， Yogesh,

Quiescent current definition should be the no switching current through device, at light load condition in DCM HS LS already start to switch, the input current should be Iout *Vout/ Vin

Hi, Elena,

Thank you for your reply, what i meant to ask was what will be supply current consumed by IC itself at 200uA light load condition.

is it 10.5uA to 25uA or 600 uA to 880uA? in which mode LM5163 will be, whether it is sleep mode or active mode?

My understanding is at light load like 200uA, LM5163 will be in Sleep mode, i just wanted a confirmation from TI expert.

And thank you for correcting me regarding quiescent current definition.

hi, Yogesh,

Looking from the datasheet ,if the Ven is above the enable threshold, it should be in active mode. refer to 7.4.2 Active Mode ,

What's you input output condition .

Thank you for your reply.

Ven is above the threshold and input is 24V and output is 5V.

At light load condition, load current required is around 200uA.

The test condition definition of IQSLEEP is when Vfb=1.5V, higher than Vref, So in you condition, it should be active mode -> sleep mode -> active mode. this is Pulse skipping mode . the input current may be higher than 25UA .
