TLC59108: driving FETs with TLC59108/TLC59208F

Part Number: TLC59108
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TLC59208F

Hi Team,

can you help with the following request of my customer:

I have now looked at the TLC59108 a little closer and am now more sure whether I can use this at all for my application.

I want to switch valves...at the beginning with full power until the valve magnets are completely pulled and then I want to operate them by PWM with reduced power .
Since the TLC59108 can't do 30V at the output, I thought that I could switch FET's to its outputs and these are switch my valves.
But somehow it seems to me that the TLC controls the output current or can set the current for all outputs via the Rext.
Is it possible that I can't control a FET with this device at all?

As written above, it looks to me like I can't drive FETS directly at the outputs with the TLC59108...would you confirm that?
For this reason I searched further and came across your TLC59208F...and it looks like it has open-drain outputs with which I could switch a FET.
Am I seeing this correctly?

.
Thank you very much.

Jan
