BQ27520-G4: How do I know if my device has gone into hibernation?

Part Number: BQ27520-G4
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: BQ25898, BQSTUDIO

I seem to be having some issues with hibernate mode with my BQ27520-G4.

The manual states that the device will go into sleep mode when a valid OCV measurement has been taken and CONTROL_STATUS[HIBERNATE] is set. I have checked both of these.

I_hibernate is 8 mA.

The current draw is less than 60 uA.

Yet still the device seems to wake up every 20-30s (I haven't timed it exactly) and draw significantly more current. Keep in mind that this is the current draw of the entire charger board which also contains a few other devices such as a BQ25898 so this current draw is not exclusively from the 27520 - though that seems to be what is waking up and increasing the current draw when it should be hibernating.

Is there any way to make sure that the device is actually hibernating?
