TPS61085A-Q1: jitter measure way and theory for current mode with quasi-constant frequency

Part Number: TPS61085A-Q1

Hello expert,

My customer is asking for the jitter measure way for TPS61085A-Q1. They would like to know should they follow COT or current mode topology concept to measure the jitter. They think current mode is fix frequency operation but they saw some jitter in SW waveform, and we saw the quasi-constant frequency description. May we know which measure way is fine to follow for TPS61085A-Q1? And also we would like to know the theory of current mode with quasi-constant frequency. Thanks a lot!

Best regards,

Ann Lien

  • Hi Ann,

TPS61085-Q1 is using COT control (adaptive off time), so the switching frequency will change a little with different input voltage and load current. Generally, when VIN reduces or IOUT increases, the switching frequency will reduce.
