TPS25858-Q1: Question about Thermal Management of TPS25858-Q1

Part Number: TPS25858-Q1
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TPS25850-Q1

Hi, Team

Hope you are doing well!

My customer engineer is testing out TPS25858, and he find a problem about the thermal management.

As the datasheet, when VTS = 0.5 × VSENSE, the Px_CC1, Px_CC2 pin automatically reduces current; when  VTS = 0.65 × VSENSE the charging is ideally reduced further.

Customer engineer tries to change VTS through the voltage divider resistor, and then observes the change of the current.

He once tested TPS25858 a few months ago, and the performance is consistent with the datasheet.

Recently, he do the same test with a new piece of TPS25858, and the result showed that when VTS = 0.5 × VSENSE, the current did not reduce, and when VTS = 0.65 × VSENSE, the current reduce significantly.

Customer engineer wants to know why there is such a difference?

Has our thermal management strategy changed?

Thank you for your support and look forward to your reply!
