UCC28810: Constant Voltage regulation question on Audio system

Part Number: UCC28810
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: PMP4484

Hi team,

Can UCC28810 regulate and maintain constant voltage when the output shares with Audio amp's power supply?

My customer would like to use UCC28810 to supply LED(5W) and Audio Amp supply voltage(6~7W) at the same time. Since the current is dynamically changing depending on the Audio signal, they concerned if UCC28810 can support stable regulation voltage for LEDs. Please refer to below diagram. Customer will use base on PMP4484 reference design. The output will be single rail. So they will add an extra DCDC converter for further voltage regulation.

output voltage:

1.LED Driver: 19~23V

2.Audio AMP: 5V

Thanks,

Jay

  • Hi Jay,

As you know, this reference design was intended to power LED only, not audio and LED. As to whether the output will be stable (by this I assume you mean its ability to sustain adequate output voltage) I think this really depends on the audio amp transient load step size and duration. It would also depend on the robustness of your downstream converters and how tightly they require the 40V output to be regulated. I'm sorry, but I can't make an adequate determination based on the information provided.
