TPS54561: negative spike on SW during Vout short test

Hi team,

This is Jayden, my customer use TPS54561. There is -8V/2ns spike on SW-GND during Vout short test. Please kindly help check if the spike is OK.

As describe in datasheet, the absolute maximum rating in SW-GND is -7V/5ns and -2V/10ns.

Hello Jayden,

Can the customer share their layout and are they using tip and barrel method to probe?

The waveform seems reasonable, but it may be able to be improved on.

Hi Beck,

Thanks for reply! I will ask my customer weather they can share their layout and return back tomorrow. The test method they use is like in the picture to minimize the test loop.

It seems the -8V/2ns spike won't damage the device and influence the long-term reliability, right?

Hello Jayden,

I believe we should do our best to minimize the ring, but this is pretty normal for device designs such as this.
