TPS7A03: Output voltage long-term drift

Part Number: TPS7A03
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TPS7A02,

Hi, our customer had a question about the TPS7A02/3 accuracy, in terms of output drift over time. This is for a grid monitoring application, where they are using the LDO output as ADC voltage reference for some non-critical measurement functions.

The load and line regulation, as well as accuracy, are covered over temperature and well documented in the datasheet. Do we have any info we can share on LTD or stability? Requirements is for <3% following 75C/85%rh for 1000hr.

Best regards,
Tristan

  • Hi Tristan,

We don't characterize our LDOs for LTD. The MSL rating for this device indicates that it has a low susceptibility to moisture, but this is also before the device is mounted on a board. Let me reach out about this and get back to you.

    Regards,

    Nick

  • Hi Nick,

Understood, thanks for checking on this. Looking forward to hearing your response soon.

    Best regards,

  • Hi Tristan,

I'll update you tomorrow on this.

  • Hi Tristan,

    Sorry for the delay.

I talked to one of the packaging engineers about MSL ratings. The devices are put under stress during MSL qualification with the condition 85°C/85%RH for 168 Hours for MSL 1, which is met for all TPS7A03 orderable devices. To pass this qualification, the devices need to remain within spec without any failures. The test condition for MSL 1 qualification is close to the customer's requirement, except for the total duration of the soaking; so, we can guarantee that the device will remain within the 1% tolerance for the 168hr, but I don't think we have data to support the 1000hr LTD requirement. Given the MSL 1 qualification, it looks promising to me that an MSL 1-qualified device could meet their requirement.

    Regards,

    Nick
