Other Parts Discussed in Thread: BQ25798
Hi,
The data sheet states that the device can be operated from 4.5V to 17V.
In order to charge 3 cells (12.6V) do I need to supply at least 13.5V or will it work with 5V for example?
Thanks,
Tomer

Hi Tomer,
The BQ24130 is a buck only charger so to charge 3 x 4.2V cells = 12.6V, the charger input must be at least ~13V. You might consider the BQ25798, which is a buck-boost converter and so it can charge from 5V input.

Jeff
Thank you Jeff,
I have considered the BQ25798 at first but it requires I2C to operate.
I would much rather a stand alone device.
Do you have a 3 cells (or more) Buck-Boost stand alone device?
