LM51501-Q1: LM51501-Q1

Part Number: LM51501-Q1

I have the following question regarding the LM51501 DC/DC Controller:

On page 11 of the datasheet, the following is stated:

“The wide input range of the
device covers automotive load dump transient.”

From ISO 16750-2:2010(E), a load dump may reach from 151V / 1 ohm to 202V / 8 ohm in a 24 V system or 79V / .5 ohm to 101 / 4 ohm in a 12V system.

Can the LM51501 survive these levels?

  • Hi Raymond,

LM51501 cannot survive these levels without external circuit.

More circuit is necessary to handle the load damp transient, e.g.TVS. 7.1 Absolute Maximum Ratings must be satisfied during transient.
