TPS53219A: conduction time(ton) of Hiccup mode

Part Number: TPS53219A

Hi Team!

There is a technique question.

When the device go into Hiccup mode, it would try to turn on the fet. I wanted to know how to determine the conduction time(ton).

During Auto-skip operation, the TPS53219A uses the same On-time control scheme that it uses during normal continuous conduction mode under heavier loads.  That on-time is defined by approximately:

    Vout / Vin * tsw

Where tsw is the nominal switching period of the programmed continuous conduction switching frequency, as selected by the resistor connected to the RF pin.

For example, with the RF pin OPEN, the continuous conduction switching frequency is 500kHz and the switching period, tsw = 2μs

    For a 12V input, 1V output, the Ton time would be 1V / 12V x 2μs or 167ns

By keeping the same on-time generation in discontinuous operation as continuous operation, the TPS53219A provides a smooth transition between continuous conduction and auto-skip operation, and the switching frequency during Auto-skip operation is Fsw ( Iout / [ 1/2 ILpk-pk ] ) when Iout <  1/2 ILpk-pk and where Fsw is the continuous conduction switching frequency.
