Hi Team,

What is the main difference between BQ27220 and BQ27320?
These are both CEDV but I want to know how to decide which device to be selected.

Best Regards,
Yaita

  • Hello,

Both gauges are very similar. The BQ27220 has a greater Battery Capacity and it comes with pre-programmed chemistry profiles.

I have seen more customer use the BQ27220 due to its ultra power consumption in Normal mode and sleep mode. And this one has more documentation.

  • Hi Jose-san,

    Thank you for your answer.
My customer considers to use BQ27220 or BQ27320 as a system-side gauge where the actual battery can be removed.
I believe he need to store learned gauge parameters like FCC and Qmax, etc in their system non-volatile memory before battery is removed.
On the other hand, BQ27520-G4 (Impedance Track Flash gauge) doesn't require the non-volatile memory.
    Is my understanding correct?

    Best Regards,
    Yaita

  • Hello Yaita,

Correct, the BQ27520-G4 is a flash gauge. And so, it does not require to store parameters in host side in case of a removal of the battery. Cell information is stored in the device in non-volatile flash memory
