BQ24105-Q1: Charge and termination loop

Part Number: BQ24105-Q1

Hello Experts,

Please let me know if the BQ25105 will be in charge and termination loop what is the impact on IC health , there any chance where i will loose this IC

As per my vehicle arch. this may be in the same loop time for 5-6 hour.

Page Number 24 of datasheet

Other Issue:

If the system load current is large (≥ 1 A), the IR drop across the battery impedance causes the battery voltage to drop below the refresh threshold and start a new charge. The charger would then terminate due to low charge current. Therefore, the charger would cycle between charging and termination. If the load is smaller, the battery would have to discharge down to the refresh threshold resulting in a much slower cycling. Note that grounding the TTC pin keeps the converter on continuously.

  • HI Dinesh,

There is no impact on IC health.  The charger was designed to charge to termination, then stop charging and then recharge only after the battery has discharged below a certain threshold.  The datasheet statement is only to explain what happens if a load, attached to the battery, causes the charger to either not terminate or rapidly enter/exit termination.
