UCC27322-Q1: UCC27322QDGNRQ1 driver inquiry

Part Number: UCC27322-Q1
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: UCC27614

Hi Experts,

Good day! We need additional information for this UCC27322QDGNRQ1.

The UCC27322QDGNRQ1 driver contains two switches in parallel, a MOSFET and a BJT, we have the value of the RDSON but no information about the VCE of the BJT, is there any information you can share with me about this value? Thank you in advance for your support.

Best regards,

Jonathan

  • Hi Jonathan,

Why do you need the internal VCE value? We may be able to get that information, but I'm not sure how useful it will be. The BJT is an NPN, and the FET is a PMOS. The PMOS will pull the output to the rail voltage, so there is no problem with a VCE drop on the output.

Also, has the customer considered using UCC27614? It is a very similar part without using a BJT. It may alleviate any concerns about that.

    Thanks,

    Alex M.

  • Hi Alex,

Thank you for waiting. Our customer would like to use the value of VCE to calculate the losses in the driver since most of the current passes by the BJT, also using Rgate is there a way to estimate how the losses are divided between the driver itself and the Rgate? thank you once again for the support.

    Best regards,

    Jonathan

  • Hi Jonathan,

I recommend using this equation from the UCC27614 datasheet:

Instead of using VCE * Io, which is dynamic and difficult to calculate, you can use another method based on gate charge. This equation calculates the total power required to charge and discharge the FET's gate every cycle, and divides it between the driver and RG.

    Thanks,

    Alex M.
