TPS65296: Maximum output capacitance

Our design requires a total of 300uF ceramic output capacitors (6.3V caps) split between DRAMS, a CPU 1.1V supply and a few other components.

Table 8.3 indicates a maximum of 142uF, can 300uF be used?

Hi Steve,

Yes, 300uF Output Capacitors can be used. But we tested in the lab and found that the bandwidth will be reduced by about half (130kHz -> 71kHz), so it is recommended that customers actually test Load Transient and Ripple after the modified.

Using 300uF is okay, the bandwidth and phase margin depend on L*C, if customers use the 300uF, recommend using a smaller inductor of 0.33uH and actually test it on board.
