TPS62867: High Output Capacitance

Part Number: TPS62867
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TPSM82816

We have a converter need for 3.3V -> 1V / 3.4A at 90C. The TPS62867 looked like a good option but there is an additional requirement that there is 500uF of ceramic capacitance on the output.

Can we use the device in this configuration? If not, what are the smallest options that we have?

  • Hi Steve,

The TPS62867 can support a nominal Cout up to 150uF. Therefore I would suggest to go for the module TPSM82816 (or its discrete version the TPS62816). It has an external compensation that can be configured to support effective output capacitance up to 470uF. If the output capacitance of 500uF is nominal e.g. 5x100uF, then the effective capacitance should be around 400uF which is within the limits of the TPSM82816.

    Regards
