TUSB1146: linearity VOD setting

Hi David,

while I read the datasheet, I notice DP input has linear VOD setting,

since DP source output 600mV now, the signal swing voltage probably be lower when reaching our IC, so either setting should still within the linear region I supposed.

so is there a recommendation on this setting?

larger maximum tolerant swing(DP_VOD=0) is always better right?

Hi,

Large linearity range would consume more power, so if power is a concern, then you need to find a balance between the best linearity range and the power consumption.

so if my customer don't have power consumption concern, instead they more concern about signal being compressed.

that means we should set largest VOD , right?

Yes, you would set to the largest linearity range if power is not a concern.
