Hello,

I downloaded the reference design from your website, and when I made some modifications based on my specifications, the simulation stopped working after 5ms. (https://www.ti.com/lit/tsc/slum619)

Can you help me please?

Hello,

I would double check your design to see if the transformer turns ratio, output capacitance and other electrical components are setup correctly.

Thanks for letting me know.

In regards to shutting down. The simulation may be shutting down due to an over voltage protection (OVP), over current protection (OCP) or input under voltage fault.

The following ink will bring you to an application note that describes primary fault sensing works. The most common issues with this technique and how to resolve them. The UCC28700 uses this fault sensing technique and I believe this application note will help you troubleshoot and resolve your shut down issues.

I have a question, Is it possible for the UCC28700-Q1 to regulate the output voltage to 12 volts when the input voltage varies from 400 to 800 volts DC?

Hello,

The UCC28700-Q1 should be able to regulate the output voltage with up to a 3 to 1 variation in input voltage.

Non that I know of at this time.

3 to 1 is typical, up to 5 to 1 can be accomplished with careful consideration. After that you run into limits with duty cycle.

With DCM flyback controllers you can go up to a 9 to 1 variation before running into limits with leading edge blanking.

The follow link will bring you to an application note that describes how to design a flyback with a 9 to 1 input range using the UCC28722 flyback controller. The controller is very similar to the UC28700-Q1 and the same technique should work with the UCC28700-Q1.

what do you mean by 3 to 1 ?

that the controller can regulate 3 variations of input voltage or what?

Hello,

If your input varies 3 to 1 that means input voltage could change 3 to 1.

For example if your input was 300V. You could design it so the input range could from 300 to 100 V.

Hello,

So the controller can regulate input variation from (1): 800 to 533V or

(2): 800 to 255 V

533 come from (800-800/3)=533

255 come from 800/3=255
