Other Parts Discussed in Thread: BQ25883, BQ25887, BQ25886
The JEITA guideline was released on April 20, 2007 to improve the safety of charging Li-ion batteries. Each of the chargers in this family have a TS pin, which is used with a thermistor and resistor divider in order to monitor the battery temperature. If the TS pin is outside of the T1-T5 range as specified in the datasheet, charging will be suspended until the TS voltage returns to within the T1-T5 range. Between T2-T3, full programmed charge current and charge voltage are applied.
For the BQ25882, BQ25883, and BQ25887 the charge current is configurable between T1-T2 and T3-T5. Between T1-T2 there are options for 0%, 20%, 40%, and 100% of the programmed charge current as set by JEITA_ISETC. Between T3-T5 there are options for 40% and 100% of the programmed charge current as set by JEITA_ISETH.
For the BQ25882, BQ25883, and BQ25887 the charge voltage is configurable between T3-T5. Between T3-T5 there are options for suspended charge, 8.0 V charge voltage regulation, 8.3 V charge voltage regulation, and programmed charge voltage regulation as set by JEITA_VSET.
The BQ25886 has fixed thresholds applied to T1, T2, T3, and T5. Below T1, charge is suspended. Between T1 and T2, the charge current is 20% of the programmed value. Between T2 and T3, full charge current and charge voltage are applied. Between T3 and T5, charge voltage regulation is 8.0 V. Above T5 charge is suspended.
