TPS7B7701-Q1: EN question

Part Number: TPS7B7701-Q1

Hi  team,

Please help confirm that the chip can be used in the following scenarios

The EN pin of the chip controls the output via PWM as follows:
1.Output effective time 3.2ms, shutdown time 21.5ms
2.Output effective time 3.2ms, shutdown time 40.9ms
More than 50% of the chip's life cycle is in the above scenario. It's even 90 percent of the time in the above scenario.

thanks

  • Hi Hazel,

The device is fine with being powered on and off over many cycles. One concern is if the output(s) are a very heavy load. If this is the case, then the device may have a lot of overshoot as such high current is flowing, which may cause additional wear and tear in terms of long term reliability.

Another concern I have is that turn on is not instantaneous so the outputs would not be fully on for a full 3.2ms They would have to come up after a small time, then it would be operable. If the customer is accepting of this then it is fine from the LDO's point of view.

    Regards,

    John
