TPS6521815: EEPROM program

Hi,

I have a question about "Note" in datasheet P45, 8.5.1 Programming Power-Up Default Values.

＜Note＞Only bits marked with (E2) in the register map have EEPROM programmable power-up default settings. All other bits keep the factory settings listed in the register map. Changing the power-up default values is not recommended in production but for prototyping only.

Regarding "Changing the power-up default values is not recommended in production," could you tell me the specific reason why it is not recommended?

Hi Nishie,

This recommendation is a carry over from the non-user programmable versions of this part where re-programming the defaults is not advised.

The TPS6521815 is our user-programmable version where the goal is flexibility in default settings. You may change the EEPROM settings and move to production once you have a program that fits your needs.

Is it correct to understand that users cannot program now, but will be able to program in the future?
When will it be able to program?

I'm not sure what you mean here. The TPS6521815 is already user-programmable from the beginning. You do not have to wait for programming features to be available in the future.

The Cyclone V is covered in our Power recommendation tool. The part I see being recommended using this tool is TPS65218D0 which is a pre-programmed version of the TPS65218x family of ICs. Use the "Family" drop down menu to look for the Cyclone V.
