BQ25121A: Operation without PWM possible?

Hi,

I wonder whether the BQ25121A and my circuit can be operated from the LDO output only. I want to avoid the extra parts for PWM since I have very little space on my PCB and loads of 10 mA max. However, I am not sure if I get the default 2.5 V even without having power to pull LSCRTL high. I do have a devboard (for the 25120), but hesitate to remove the inductance there. Maybe I can get an answer without ruining the board ;-)

Hi Peter,

Unfortunately the BQ25121A can't be used without the switching rail parts as the rail provides some necessary source to the device internals.

You might consider using the BQ25150 and BQ2515x family of devices as they provide a similar charging solution as the BQ2512x family but without the sys rail. It comes in a small package and can provide a 12mm^2 solution size.
