  • Hi Alex,

DP and USB capabilities are also supported for TPS65983. Please see the datasheet extract below indicating support for DP and TBT alt mode.

If using this device, we only recommend following Intel TBT3 reference design 569174.

    Best,

    Alex

  • Dear Alex

I have the Intel TBT3 reference design 569174. and we have run the board . i see the next message

the file tell me . New USB2 MUX circuit - Removing Universal support

so I want to know  if we want to add Universal support how to modify the design

    thanks very much!

  • This thread got assigned to wrong Alex. Correcting it now.

  •  Hi Alex,

Sorry for the mix-up in the thread assignment.

The design still supports USB and DP when TBT is not available. Please see page 9 of the reference design document.

Additionally, TBT ports are downwards compatible with USB and DP devices by default when using PD controllers such as TPS65983B. Far-end devices with no TBT support will still be able to form USB and DP connections.

I do not believe there will be any issues with USB and DP support if your schematic follows the design.

    Best,

    Alex
