UCC27322: Latch--up protection

Part Number: UCC27322

What is the function of "Latch--up protection" ?
Is it a function that stops the output when the effective value (or average value) of the gate drive current exceeds 500mA?

  • Hi Wada-san,

Latch-up is a condition where parasitic thyristors in silicon activate. These can "latch" by turning on, and usually won't turn off until current returns to near 0. So in many cases, this can cause destruction of a device.

I believe this 500mA refers to reverse current on the output pin. This spec is saying that >500mA of reverse current on OUT can cause latch-up to occur, and the device can only protect <500mA.

    Thanks,

    Alex M.
