[FAQ] Why does SOC drop from 100% after full charge?

The gauge takes an OCV measurements periodically when in relaxation and then uses this measurement to recalculate the remaining capacity and full charge capacity. If there is a change in conditions, like temperature, or every 5 hours in relaxation mode, the Full Chare Capacity (FCC) is updated and therefore the State of Charge (SOC) can change.

To prevent any changes in FCC or SOC from happening while in a relaxed state, [SMOOTH] should be set to 1, [RELAX_SMOOTH_OK] should be set to 0, and [RELAX_JUMP_OK] should be set to 0.

Note: setting the [RELAX_SMOOTH_OK] and [RELAX_JUMP_OK] bits to 0 will keep the SOC locked while in relax. This means even after long periods of time with no discharge, the SOC will remain the same since the voltage based SOC corrections are disabled.
