My customer is evaluating TPS259540 and has a question.

I would be grateful if you could advise.

The output current after hard short and soft short occurs is less than the minimum value of ILIM

Could you please let us know the reason for this kind of behavior.

（1）When a soft short circuit occurs, the output voltage drops to 0V, but the output current is keep flowing approximately 300mA.
According to the datasheet it should be 0A.

（2）When a hard short occurs, the output voltage drops to 0V, but the output current flows constantly 300mA.
It should be 0A in the datasheet.

Hi Shinichi,

Thanks for reaching out. We can use e2e private chat for confidential info sharing.

During short device will limit current less than current limit. If power dissipation is high then device will hit thermal shutdown and then current will go to zero.
