TPS40210-Q1: FMEA

Part Number: TPS40210-Q1
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TPS40210

Customer found some device issue in field side. They'd like to evaluate the FMEA with TPS40210 first.

Vin: 24V

Question: When input voltage is ramping up from 8V to 24V, during this startup timing what if the Rsense is either open or short? What's the device behavior during this scenario? device will be damaged or go into over current protection?

  • Hi Brian,

    Thanks for reaching out.

When Rsense is shorted, the device will never go into overcurrent protection. This might cause damage through overcurrent to the external parts.

When Rsense is open, the device will not be able to boost at all. The device can be damaged, as the abs. max. rating for ISNS pin is 8V.

    Best regards,

    Moritz
