TPS709: FMEA Failure Mode Analysis

Part Number: TPS709

Hello,

Could you please share any details of FMEA analysis for TPS709?

  1. Would the functionality of the device be affected by a short between out (pin 5) and NC (pin 4)? (Expected answer is NO)
  2. Would shorting between GND (pin 2) and EN (pin 3) cause the device to permanently shut down?  (expected answer is YES)
  3. What would a floating ground cause?

Thank you, Keith

  • Hey Keith,

We typically recommend to connect NC to GND for improved thermal performance, but the device will not be damaged if NC and OUT are connected

The device will stay off. If EN is shorted to VIN, this can cause damage to the power supply powering the LDO

a floating ground will cause an unpredictable output

    Best,

    Juliette
