TPS3435: Looking for a watchdog IC with < 1 uA supply current and timeout as high as possible

Part Number: TPS3435

Hello, all. I am looking for a watchdog IC like TPS3435 with supply current < 1 uA and a timeout on the order of 10-30 minutes.

If something like that doesn't exist, what is the closest I can get? Section 5 of the TPS3435's datasheet https://www.ti.com/lit/ds/symlink/tps3435.pdf indicates that there should be a 100 sec option, but the "PACKAGING INFORMATION" section indicates that only 1.6 sec and 1 sec options are available for this IC?

Thanks.
Thomas

  • Hello Thomas,

TPS3435 is the correct device to meet your requirements. This device consumes <1uA current and with C pinout, can support up to 640 sec ~11 min timeout.

TPS3435 can offer thousands of OPN and we have not released all options. We do plan to release an option to support up to 640 sec timeout in second half 2024. May I know your additional requirements (listed below) to arrive a relevant OPN. I can check if we have sample available to meet your requirements for you to evaluate.

    1. Output topology :- Open drain or push Pull; Active low

    2. Start up delay:-

    3. Timeout :- 600 sec?

    4. Output error assert time

    Thanks and regards,

    Shridhar.

  • Hi, Shridhar. Thanks for your response. Can you confirm that there is no watchdog IC currently available from TI that consumes < 1 uA and has a timeout longer than 1.6 seconds?

The idea for us would be:

    1. Output topology: push pull

    2. No delay

    3. Timeout of 600 sec

    4. Output assert time: anything 2-200 ms

  • I think with TPS3435CAIEGDDFR we could get up to 1 * 64 = 64 seconds using time scaling by setting SET0 and SET1 to 1. Is that correct?

    Thanks.

  • Hello Thomas,

TPS3435CAIEGDDFR can support 64 second watchdog timer by setting SET0 and SET 1 to 1. You are correct.

The output is open drain though.

For higher timer option (640 sec), we can generate samples for evaluation. Let us know if this is acceptable.

    Thanks & Regards,

    Shridhar

  • Hi, Shridhar. Yes, that would be great. How can I share my email address with you?

    Thanks.

    Thomas

  • Hello Thomas,

I will reach out to you at your my.ti registered email address.

    Thanks and regards,
