TPS40400: TPS40400EVM-351 USB to GPIO interface adapter damage.

Part Number: TPS40400

After the adapter was used for many times, it suddenly appeared abnormal. The software kept displaying no usb, and the adapter was very hot. Our use method is to connect the 10-pin terminal of the adapter to the product and the digital interface related to TPS40400. At the same time, we provide 4 digital interfaces with a pull-up power supply of 3.3V, and then connect the USB interface of the adapter to the computer. We have been using this method for one month, but now the adapter suddenly fails. What do you think may be the problem?

I am not sure what the issue might be, but here are some things to look into:

    1) Is the ground of the computer and the ground of the board under test connected and at the same ground?

    2) Is the 3.3V power supply for the pull-ups also connected to the USB to GPIO adapter's 3.3V output?

    3) If the 3.3V power supply for the pull-ups is external, might it have been accidentally connected backwards, driving the CLK and DAT pins negative could damage the adapter.

What external resistance are you using to the 3.3V pull-up?

Have you disabled the internal pull-up resistance of the USB-to-GPIO?
