Are you referring to the LM5156 quickstart calculator tool in SEPIC topology?
For a SEPIC design, it is both possible to use a coupled or uncoupled inductor.
The calculator sheet uses a coupled inductor design.
You can compare this design to the LM5155 SEPIC EVM, which uses a coupled inductor.
