BQ25606: BQ25606 PG always on

Part Number: BQ25606

Hi

I have a query need your help.

The battery is not connected and the VBUS power supply is 5V. One of the three boards has the PG pin always on.

After replacing the new chip, the phenomenon remains the same.

What is the internal working principle of the PG foot? Under what circumstances will PD foot abnormality occur?

Waiting for your reply.

Thanks

Star

  • Hello Star,

Can you please provide a schematic? What is difference between the PG pin always on board and the other two boards? What is the STAT pin doing?

On my board PG LED is on (PG LOW) when an input is applied with no battery.

    Regards,

    Mike Emanuel

  • Hi Mike

    Thanks for your reply.

    Attached the schematic

When plugged in power, the light on the PG pin is darker than the status light. Some boards of the PG pin pulled low when connected to the power supply.

    Please help check it.

    Thanks

    Star

  • Hi Star,

As shown in the datasheet, "Open drain active low power good indicator. Connect to the pull up rail through a 10-kΩ resistor. LOW indicates a good input if the input voltage is between UVLO and ACOV, above SLEEP mode threshold, and input current limit is above 30 mA."

If a good input is applied the PG open drain FET will turn on to bring PG low and turn on the PG LED. This is normal behavior.
