I'm analyzing some battery charge reading anomalies that have been reported on our custom PCB. On several occasions, while a unit is charging from 0%, it appears that the BQ27421-G1A reports the same state of charge over a long period of time (>1 hour). I have seen this occur at a charge percentage as low as 5% and as high as 74%. In one case, I was able to get the state of charge to jump up to 100% by putting the part briefly in shutdown mode and then exiting shutdown mode. In another case, I saw a sudden jump up to 100% by removing the battery charge current and then reapplying battery charge current.
What could cause state of charge to get stuck?
