LM5180: SIMPLIS model to make stability analysis

Part Number: LM5180

Hello

I need the simplis model of the LM5180

As answered here https://e2e.ti.com/support/power-management-group/power-management/f/power-management-forum/1118687/lm5180-q1-the-loop-stability-issues-of-lm5180-q1/4146816?tisearch=e2e-sitesearch&keymatch=LM5180%252520simplis#4146816, the only way to be sure of the stability of this PSR flyback is to used simplis simulation

So is it possible to get it ?

As test, I will do load transient response.

Do you know if there are other option to check by experiment the stability (using a Bode100 for instance) ? Or it's definitely impossible to check PSR flyback stability with standard VNA methods.

Thanks for your reply.

Best Regards

  • Hi Lionel,

Let me check if we have the Simplis model available and come back to you.

    Regards,

    Hongjia

  • Hi Lionel

Sorry that we do not provide the simplis model . The PSPICE model is available for simulation on TI.COM.

The bode plot test cannot be performed for the LM5180, we suggest doing the load transient instead as you said.

    Thanks and best regards.

  • Hello
    Thanks for the reply.

I also try to do a simulation with SIMetrix (classical spice simulation, trasnient style) but the model failed :

There are errors in the circuit. Simulation aborted

    LM5180-Q1_TRANS.lib (60): ...

*** ERROR *** Missing nodes and value

    LM5180-Q1_TRANS.lib (63): ...

    *** ERROR *** Missing nodes

    LM5180-Q1_TRANS.lib (66): ...

*** ERROR *** Missing nodes and value

    LM5180-Q1_TRANS.lib (69): ...

*** ERROR *** No model name specified

As it's an encrypted model, it's impossible to debug it.

Without a least a transient simulation working, we couldn't choose this part.

Is it possible to get via email (and maybe under NDA) a non-encrypted model ?

  • Hi Lionel

Yes we can provide unencrypted pspice model under NDA. Please send email to Bella-he@ti.com and share the NDA number.

    Thanks and best regards.
