TPS6735: TPS6735 for -30V (50mA) design

Part Number: TPS6735
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TPS61085, LM2611

Can I use TPS6735 to design -30VDC output for <50mA power supply? Does TI have a design example to use?

  • Hello Chris,

The device is designed for creating -5V on the output, so no, you cannot use it as is for -30V. You should be able to add discrete charge pumps to the switch node, but this might be very inefficient. You might have a look to figure 18 in the TPS61085 datasheet to see a negative charge pump on the top left to create -7V, but then you need to stack several of these to create -30V.

Please have a look to LM2611 for creating a negative voltage from a positive one.

    Best regards,
    Brigitte
