TPS7H2201-SP: Minimum operating current

Part Number: TPS7H2201-SP

If I'm understanding the datasheet, the minimum current limit can be set to 0.5A for very low output currents?

Although it also calls out this 750mA for valid CS. I don't need the CS as long as the current limit still works at 0.5A.

Can the device operate with low output currents? trying to find a 1.8V, 200mA nominal current with 4-500mA current limit.

Thanks,
James

  • Hello James,

The TPS7H2201-SP can operate at low currents. CS does need 750 mA in order to operate, however that does not seem to be an issue for you.

The IVOUT + 0.5 value listed for current limit in the electrical charisterics is to prevent the tolerances of the current limit from interfering with normal operation of the device. Therefore, if you wish to operate at 200 mA nominal IOUT, it would be recommended to set ILIM to 700 mA to give headroom to the current limit tolerances.

    Thanks,

    Andy
