LM5175EVM-HD: Output current limit

Part Number: LM5175EVM-HD
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: LM5175

I want to limit the output current of the LM5175 integrated circuit. When it reaches 11A, the system should automatically shut down. How can I achieve this?

  • Hi no name,

    Thanks for reaching out.
If one takes a look at the LM5175 datasheet you can find section 8.3.6 which goes into output current limiting:

Thereby, you can set the output limit to 11A by choosing a current sense resistor R_sns of approximately 4.5mOhm.
If you go more into the current limits which are necessary for specific buck or boost operation, you can also look at section 9.2.2.7 of the datasheet.

Please reach out if you have any other questions.

    Thank you and best regards,
    Bryan
