LM5156: Use with output current (ILOAD) of 2A

Part Number: LM5156

Hi team,

The data sheet states that it is a powerful standard MOSFET driver with a peak output of 1.5A, but can this part be used with an output current (ILOAD) of 2A?
I plan to use a MOSFET with IDMAX=10A. The inductor is rated at 6.5A.

Thank you for your help.

  • Hi Taito,

Thanks for using the e2e forum.
The MOSFET driver spec is meant for the gate driver signal of the FET itself. This is for turning on and off the switching MOSFET. A stronger driver can turn on the FET faster.
This is not related to the output current of the power stage.
The device is fully capable of supporting 2A or higher loads.

    Best regards,
    Niklas
