TPS51386: Current Limit Inocl and Iocl

Part Number: TPS51386

Hi Ti Team, I am not sure how the Inocl and Iocl parameters affect a design with the TPS51386 devices. I reviewed the datasheet and didn't find any information related to these parameters.

Can you provide some insight into Inocl and Iocl parameters?

Regards,

Jim

  • Jim, Firstly OC and NOC spec are shown in EC table page5

For OC, 7.3.6 in page12 shows the OC details, the OC is inductor current valley current limitation, as long as the MAX output current support is minOC+0.5*Ip-p. commonly considering thermal, recommend output current < DC spec(8A).

For NOC, it is not triggered in common application, if there is pre-bias supply at output and larger than output, when OOA mode, it will turn on low side to do discharge, it has chance to be triggered. if no pre-bias application, this should be not as a concern.
