TPS61299: the range of output current value at Vin 1.5V and Vout 3.3V

Hi team,

Could you tell me the range of the possible output current value at Vin 1.5V and Vout 3.3V?

Customer considers this device for AA battery and would like to know especially if it is possible to output 400mA at 1.5V.

PS: I cannot find SOT563 package(TPS61299DRLR) in ti.com but when will be released?

Hi Yuto,

The TPS61299 is 1.2A input current limit. So Vin*Iin/Vout=Iout(max)=0.54A. But if you want more margin, you could choose TPS612997, which is 1.9A input current limit.

For DRL package, you could find TPS61299-Q1, it is the same package with TPS61299DRLR.

Is it not necessary to consider output efficiency? Your formula is for 100% output efficiency so I believe the actual value is lower.

And I cannot find TPS612997 SOT563 but will it be available in the future?

Hi Yuto,

Yes you are right that the efficiency should be involved and what I provide is a rough estimation. 80% efficiency will leave much margin. Currently TPS612997 has not been rtmed and you could refer TPS61299-Q1 , 1.2 sot package, or TPS612997YBHR, wcsp package.

Hi Nini,

Thank you. As for package, Non Q1 grade device will not be released? Customer would like to use non Q1 SOT package in terms of price.

If you have a plan, I propose customer to use TPS61299-Q1 for proto and non Q1 for mass production. I wonder when RTM.

Sorry for adding question but do you have any other device to meet the following requirements as another option?

Requirement:
Vin 1.5V
Vout 3.3V
Output current 400mA
For AA battery use

Hi Yuto,

Other device such as TLV61070 and TPS61033 you can refer. But I don't think they are better choice according to this application, 299 is much better in efficiency.
