BQ27426: Question about the temperature rule for Qmax updates

Part Number: BQ27426

Hello,

Qmax update rules.

1, The battery temperature is between 10-40℃;

2, One charge/discharge exceeds Qmax*37%;

3, Battery voltage is not in flat area.

Do the temperature rules have to be satisfied during charging/discharging as well?

For the scenario below (Rule 2 and Rule 3 are satisfied; Rule 1 is not satisfied during charging and is satisfied during Relax), is Qmax updated?

  • The temperature rule applies to relax only.

  • hello,

    Background of the Questions:

    There is a high probability that the application scenario will be outside the 10~40°C range, so I would like to know the relationship between static completion and temperature.

    Questions:
    1, the temperature is required to be in the range of 10~40°C during the quiescence process, is it good enough that 4uV/s and temperature are satisfied at some point? Or how long does it need to last?
    2、Will Qmax be updated if the battery voltage stabilizes at 4uV/s during the resting process but the temperature is not satisfied?

    3. If the battery voltage is stabilized at 4uV/s during resting, but the temperature is not satisfied: how long after the battery voltage is stabilized, and how long after the maximum time, the temperature is satisfied, can Qmax be updated?

    4、Relaxing more than 5 hours, OCV will be forced to update, then if the temperature is not satisfied at this time, will Qmax be updated?
    5、Relaxing exceeds 7 hours, if 4uV/s and temperature can be satisfied, will Qmax be updated?

  • #1: Yes, the temperature requirement applies to relax only. The gauge will check voltage and measurement at the time that it detected a stable voltage. There is no requirement for temperature to last. The gauge will require a few seconds in relax before it qualifies this point measurement.

    #2: No.

    #3: As soon as the temperature drops into the safe zone and voltage is still stable.

    #4: No. Qmax will not update if temperature doesn't qualify. The 5 hour timeout is for DOD0 only.

    #5: If all other Qmax rules are met, yes.
