LP5912: Inrush Current when Cout is 10uF

Part Number: LP5912

Dear Specialists,

My customer has a same type of question.

I would be grateful if you could advise.

---

(1) In the reference thread, there is a discussion when Isc exceeds 1100mA at Figure 51. of datasheet P.16.

There is no clear mention that there is no problem with operations that exceed ISC.

On the other hand, Isc states 700mAmin/900mAtyp/1100mAmax in the data sheet P.5 CURRENT LEVELS.

I understand that the minimum value of 700mA cannot be exceeded. Is it correct?

(2) Also, the data sheet P.7 7.6 Output and Input Capacitors states that the maximum output capacitor is 10μF.

The input capacitor is listed as 1μFtyp, but the maximum value is not listed.

When the input capacitor is 1μF, the current to charge the 10μF output capacitor is expected to exceed 700mA.

To avoid exceeding the ISC minimum value of 700mA, I don't think a 10μF output capacitor can be used.

If 10uF can be used, please indicate the conditions.

I appreciate your great help in advance.

Best regards,

Shinichi
