TPS2116: Behavior when MODE = 1, but both VIN1 and VIN2 less than 1.6V

Hi,

I'm using the manual mode with this chip, that both MODE and PRI1 are toggled by GPIOs. And I have several questions:

May the IO signal level higher than both VIN1 and VIN2?
I'm considering below conditions, which are not shown in the truth table. What's the VOUT in these situations?
1. MODE = 1, PR1 = 1, VIN1 < 1.6V
2. MODE = 1, PR1 = 0, VIN2 < 1.6V

Hello,

For question 1, you can have any condition as long as it does not exceed the absolute maximum ratings.

For question 2, we are checking this internally and will answer back on Monday. Also, could you elaborate on what you mean by MODE=1? Is it tied to VIN1 or an external source?

Hi,

I toggle MODE and PR1 with MCU's GPIOs, so it should be an 'external source' other than VIN1.

Upon checking, the TPS2116 and TPS2117 are two very close devices. In the TPS2117 datasheet, you can see that the case where Vin1 and Vin2 are both <1.6V, it will become a high impedance blocking any inputs to go into the output and any output current to reach the input. It will be the same case for the TPS2116.
