LM3464: LED Driver

Hi all.

So this post is basically a post where I need ur feedback to tell me if I made the right choice of an LED driver IC.

I purchased a RGBW led. I would like to control the brightness and color of this LED at its max voltage and current values; within an Arduino.

After a lot of digging around I came to the conclusion that the LM3464MH/NOPB is my best option. ( https://www.ti.com/product/LM3464 )

I would appreciate it if someone could tell me if I chose a 'good enough' driver IC.

Below are the main characteristics of the led.

Here are my requirements:

1) I need to be able to control the brightness of each LED, with an Arduino; up to its full brightness! ( I feel this is possible cause this driver is rated for a max Vout of 80V and 4 Amps. )

2) I need to be able to control all 4 colors with an Arduino. ( I feel this is possible since this IC has 4 channels. )

Can someone tell me if my choice of a driver will work out for me?

Hi Solomon,

With LM3464, you cannot control each of the 4 colors independently. You can only adjust all the color simultaneously. My understanding is that you need to independently control each color. Am I correct? If so, then LM3464 is not the appropriate choice here.

May I understand what is your input voltage?

Hi, thank you for the reply. What I want is for my Arduino to set the Red at 145, Green at 223 and Blue at 245 one after another within the shortest amount of time.

The Input voltage will be between 5 volts to 12 volts. Ty

Do you need to use the white LED? If not, then LM3435 is a possible solution here.

I really dont need the white LED. Can you please tell me why you asked me this question? Does making the white LED light up need more power?

Why do you say that it has 3 channels when the website from TI says that it has 4?
